Today one of my dearest friends wrote a poem about me and who I am. It blessed me to the highest degree to think God put it on this person's heart to share with me some precious words. God's love for me is so amazing. It caused me to run to the Lord in thankfulness and I spent a good long time just praising God for the good God He is.
Today, Easter and Resurrection Sunday, I celebrate the fact that I worship a God who is alive and available to me in every way. He, Jesus Christ, died for my sin and defeated death upon the cross when He rose three days later. I am so thankful for God's grace. I deserved judgment but He pardoned me according to the faith I have by the grace of God in His Son Jesus Christ. The same God extends His mercy and love to you today.
In my time of worship before God I was thinking back on my life and how amazing God truly is. This poem is what resulted from that time. Hope you enjoy reading.

A broken hearted little girl
Scared and all alone
Wondering if a searching eye
Could her make feel at home
Waiting for a hero
To come and save the day
But years dragged on
And so did pain that wouldn’t go away
Quiet tears behind closed doors
Muffled groans in bed
Staring out the window
Wishing for another’s life instead
Defeat came with the sunrise
There was no brand new day
Rejection was the norm
Her hopes crumbled as brittle clay
Without realizing at all
Her heart became encased
Inside a locket made of steel
No one would ever brake
And even though this shield
Closed off so many people
There was a tiny opening
Just the size of a keyhole
A liar and a robber began to dangle a key
She figured would be right
So she opened up and gave her heart
Though she had a sense of fright
He never tried the key he had
He never needed to
Because she didn’t understand
Her heart had any value
The false man took her dignity
He stole away her dreams
And left her wounded on the floor
Ripped apart at the seams
Not knowing where else she could go
She ran to the first open arms
And sadly there she came up empty
Again she had been harmed
She knew she could no longer
Protect her broken heart
She fell into the arms of LOVE
and slowly fell apart
and slowly fell apart
He broke her down to build her up
He healed her deep within
And there was still a greater work
That was yet to begin
He became her Father
He taught her who she was meant to be
He was the One and only man
Who held the proper key
He asked her to let Him turn the lock and open up the door
But she feared what He would find there
Would He love her anymore?
Behind that door so many years
Of pain and dirty deeds
Even hardened parts
And thorns that choked like weeds
For years He asked
He didn’t push at all
It took her quite some time
To heed His call
Inviting Him she let Him in
He opened by unlocking
This gentle way unknown to her
Was new and was quite shocking
There was no rattle of the handle
Just a simple turn
There was no banging at the door
No anger to discern
He looked around into her heart
His eyes were filled with care
And tenderly He undid chains
She didn’t know where there
He Himself shone light into
Every darkened cranny and nook
He told her that there really was nothing anyone ever took
Because His love was all she needed
In Him she was complete
Nothing she had ever done
Could forever bring her to defeat
Because upon a wooden cross before she made the choice
He died and bled for all her sin He cried out with His voice
That she would be forgiven because she didn’t know what she did
He took her place He took her shame so that she could live
He paid a price so high for her
Exceeding any treasure on earth
This was who she was to Him
This defined her worth
And now she stands in victory
Her heart has been redeemed
She is a new creation
She was won over by the King
The One who took her yesterdays
and turned them all around
Was the One who knew her as a little girl
Afraid to look up from the ground
Beaming brightly from the inside out
There is so much in store
He has given her life purpose
And In freedom she will soar
